This weekend the Rams ran in Logan and the baseball team also played Clayton twice. "I can already see our Rams improving just from the first meet and we had another girl state qualify. Our future is looking really bright if the Rams keep progressing like they have already in this season." said Coach Jeremy Ricklefs.
"We played Clayton twice this week. We won a game against them, but they beat us the next time. It just really depended on if we had a good game or if we had to warm up." said Coach Alex Martinez. This week,the Rams started off two sports. The Rams had there first track meet. With a few newcomers, they competed well. "I am really excited about this coming year. We've already had one of our girls qualify for hurdles. Track is a short season and we can't wait until State and are already looking to the end goal." said Coach Ricklefs.
The Rams played their first baseball game vs. Clayton. "It was our first game and we're still trying to get used to playing with each other. We had a couple of boys join us from Maxwell, and we're really excited for them to play with us this year. We have a fairly large team this year, and I'm excited for the potential we have on the team." Score of Baseball Game: Cimarron-4 Clayton-9 This past Wednesday, the Lady Rams headed to Bernalillo to play the number one seed, Elida. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams did not come out with a win. "Our Lady Rams have fought long and hard to this moment, and fought all the way against Elida. I'm proud of how far they have come and can't wait until next year. I'm losing my first batch of seniors and they will be truly missed. We will once again have a lot of young girls playing next year. We have some strong leaders that are willing to put in work over the summer. We had a lot of people support this year and we really appreciate it. This group of girls is great and I'm proud of how far they have come to this point."
Score of Lady Rams Game Vs. Elida: Cimarron-33 Elida-56 This week, after Districts, the Lady Rams ended up being ranked 8th while the boys ended up being ranked 10th. The Lady Rams earned a home game and won by a large margin against Hondo Valley. The Rams traveled to Floyd and played a hard fought game, but unfortunately lost in the end, ending their basketball season. This Wednesday, the Lady Rams will be headed to Bernalillo to play the number one seed, Elida. "Our Lady Rams have been working towards this goal all year and brought their A game on Friday. The girls and I believe we have a chance to have a win against Elida if we play our top game." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "I'm proud of our boys and how far they have come this year. We have made progress and we were ranked the highest at State than we have for a long time. We will be losing a lot of beloved seniors this year, but still have a strong team coming back next year. I'm proud of all our boys have accomplished this year and can't wait until next year." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
Lady Rams vs. Hondo Valley: Cimarron-73 Hondo Valley-45 Boys Varsity Game vs. Floyd: Cimarron-41 Floyd-55 This week, the Rams headed into districts. The Lady Rams played Des Moines and the boys played Maxwell. Unfortunately, they both had losses. The Lady Rams went on to play Springer again while the boys went on to play Roy/Mosquero and Springer. "I'm really proud of how our girls have played this year. We struggled during districts but wins from the whole season will hopefully get us into a good spot at State." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "Our boys played two of the toughest teams in the State and didn't do bad. We had some losses and some wins, and hopefully we'll get a high seed in State." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
Girls Varsity Game vs. Des Moines: Cimarron-31 Des Moines-64 Boys Varsity Game vs. Maxwell: Cimarron-40 Maxwell-79 Girls Varsity Game vs. Springer: Cimarron-58 Springer-61 Boys Varsity Game vs. Roy/Mosquero: Cimarron-68 Roy/Mosquero-33 Boys Varsity Game vs. Springer Cimarron-60 Springer-63 This week our Boys and Girls varsity Teams played against Rival Springer. Unfortunately, both teams lost. "Our girls had a bad first quarter, and they fought until the end. It was a really close game and it all came down to a few free throws, and Springer pulled it off." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "Our boys really played hard. We're hoping we can get them next time." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
Score of Girls Varsity Game: Cimarron-47 Springer-51 Score of Boys Varsity Game: Cimarron-48 Springer-68 This week, the Rams played Roy/Mosquero. Both the Girls Varsity and Boys Varsity won. "Roy/Mosquero is one of our district teams, and it's good that we are able to beat them in order to see how we are going to do in districts." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "We have beat Roy/Mosquero before, and it was nice to have another win under our belts." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
Score of Girls Varsity Games: Cimarron-63 Roy/Mosquero-46 Score of Boys Varsity Games: Cimarron-87 Roy/Mosquero-68 This weekend the Rams played Des Moines at home for Homecoming. With both the girls and the boys games they won. "I am extremely proud of our girls. Des Moines is a high ranked team and is ranked first in the district. Against all odds, we beat them, and I am proud of them." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. This week, the Rams will be playing a lot of District Games.
Score of Girls Varsity Game: Cimarron-59 Des Moines-56 Score of Boys Varsity Game: Cimarron-79 Des Moines-34 This weekend, the Rams played Springer, their rivals. The girls won, and the boys. unfortunately, lost. "I was really proud of our girls. They have been waiting for this game. The girls and I didn't realize the score until the end because we were so into the game, and our girls played hard. All of our younger girls got to play and get some experience as well, which was good for them. Overall, we all are glad for this win that puts us second in the district." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "The boys played hard the whole time, we just couldn't stop them from shooting from the three point line. We also fouled a lot. We have a lot of work to do this week and hopefully will be able to stop them from shooting three's." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
Score of Girls Varsity Game: Cimarron-70 Springer-46 Score of Boys Varsity Game: Cimarron-53 Springer-71 This week, the Rams played back to back games against Raton and Roy/Moquero, with the girls coming out with two wins, and the boys with one. "We modified and worked on our defense this week after the loss against Des Moines, and we definitely improved and came out with a win against two good teams. I tell my girls that our defense will create our offense , and it did against these teams." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "Against Raton, the boys played really hard and we went into overtime. In the end, Raton beat us by one basket, but the boys fought until the end." said Coach Daniel Vigil.
