This weekend the Rams started out their basketball season with all wins. They played Questa and both girls and boys JV and Varsity teams won against Questa. They each won by a large amount and are looking forward to next week in their game against Penasco. "I am really excited for this upcoming season. We have a lot of girls and I think we will do really good this year." said Coach Ashley Gonzales. "I think our boys are off on a good foot this year and can't wait for the rest of the season. We also have a lot of young boys and they will get to work with the other older boys." said Coach Daniel Vigil. This weekend the Lady Rams played Coronado for the State Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Rams gave Coronado a run for their money, but they unfortunately lost. "The girls really played hard and it was a close game. Coronado just was a little bit better, but the girls really did try hard. I am so proud of what they have done and I cannot wait till next year." said Coach Alberta Martinez.

They had a girls team consisting of 5 girls and 2 boys. Angel Gonzales and Christine Subratie placed in the upper middle part of the field while the other Lady Rams were not that far behind. Jonathan Gonzales and David Gonzales ran in the middle of the field as well. "I'm really proud of all the rams this year and I can't wait till next year. Our team was really young and they will be a lot more mature in their running next year." said Coach Ashley Gonzales.
This week, the Lady Rams found out that they made it to state. They will be playing in pool play. There first game will be against Coronado in Gallina, NM. "I am really proud of the girls for making it to state. They have worked hard all year towards this and I am glad that they made it this far. I believe will do pretty good if the Ladies just work hard." said Coach Alberta Martinez.
This week, the Lady Rams made it half and half again. They played Roy and Mosquero and won all three matches and then played Springer and won one out of four matches. The Lady Rams are not sure if they have made it to State or not, but it is highly likely they have. "I am really proud of the Lady Rams and how far they have come this year. They really put up a fight against Springer. I am really looking forward to my team next year, but I will miss the Seniors this year." said Coach Alberta.
Game Against Roy/Mosquero Score: Match 1: Roy/Mosquero-17 Cimarron-25 Match 2: Roy/Mosquero-20 Cimarron-25 Match 3: Roy/Mosquero-8 Cimarron-25 Game Against Springer Score- Match 1: Springer-25 Cimarron-9 Match 2: Springer-20 Cimarron-25 Match 3: Springer-25 Cimarron-20 Match 4: Springer-25 Cimarron 16 This past weekend, the Rams Cross Country Team ran at Districts at the Raton Golf Course. The Rams were up against 5 teams and the Lady Rams were up against 4 teams. The Lady Rams beat Mora and made it to State and the Boys were tied but had a tie breaker with the 6th person and lost by one point, so two of the boys made it to State. The two boys were Jonathan Gonzales and David Gonzales.
"I'm really proud of both our girls and boys teams. Going into this, the girls had a slim chance, but the girls all ran major Personal Record's and beat Mora. The boys ran really well and tied with Maxwell, but unfortunately, with the tie breaker we lost by one. I'm really proud of what the Rams have done this year and how far they have come. I'm looking forward to State and next year for two really strong teams," said Coach Ashley Gonzales. The Rams we'll be competing this weekend at Rio Rancho high school at the State Cross Country Meet. |
